Your safety, our priority

Whether you’re meeting people, joining a club, volunteering, or booking a trip, here’s how to stay safe – simply.

👇 Choose your guide below:

1) For Members (Individuals)

While browsing & messaging

  • Use in-app messaging first. Keep your home address, bank details and ID private.

  • Look for verification badges and complete profiles. Trust your instincts — if it feels off, it is.

  • Red flags: rush to move to WhatsApp, love-bombing, sob stories, investment tips, requests for money or gift cards, links to external sign-ups.

Moving off platform

  • Agree a time in the daytime. Tell a friend where you’ll be and when you’ll check in.

  • Prefer a video call before meeting. End any call if you feel uncomfortable.

Meeting in person

  • Meet in a public place; arrange your own transport.

  • Keep valuables and personal paperwork to yourself.

  • It’s always OK to leave early. Your safety > politeness.

Money & fees

  • Never send money to individuals you haven’t met.

  • Pay clubs/events/trips only via their official listing checkout or at the venue — never by bank transfer sent privately.

2) Clubs & Groups

Listing standards (what members can expect)

  • Clear description, meeting times, postcode/area, any costs, and accessibility info.

  • A visible contact method (in-app/email/phone).

  • A Verified Organisation badge once checked by us.

Good practice

  • First meetups in public, step-free details if relevant, no pressure to sign long contracts.

  • Use our in-app interest/RVSP — don’t collect excessive personal data.

Not allowed

  • High-pressure sales, aggressive upsells, misleading pricing, or moving payments to private bank transfers.

3) Volunteering (Charities)

For members

  • Genuine roles are free to join — you should not pay to volunteer.

  • Reasonable checks (e.g., references/DBS) may apply; ask what training and expenses are covered.

  • Meet your coordinator in a public place or at the charity site; take a friend to your first session if you wish.

For charities

  • Be clear about hours, location, training, supervision and expenses.

  • Never ask volunteers to pay “admin fees.”

  • Use your official email domain in the listing and communications.

4) Travel & Experiences

Before you book

  • Check the company’s verification badge on Social Souls.

  • Read what’s included, single-supplement policy, accessibility, cancellation rules.

  • Prefer card payments via the listing checkout. Avoid private bank transfers.

On the day

  • Share your itinerary with a friend/family member and arrange a check-in time.

  • Keep medication and emergency contacts with you.

5) Events & Venues

Before you go

  • Confirm date, time, venue access, and any costs or tickets.

  • Plan your route; keep your phone charged.

When you arrive

  • Stay in public areas; tell the host if you need help or a quiet space.

  • If something feels wrong, leave and let us know.

6) General Online Safety

  • Use strong, unique passwords; don’t share one-time codes.

  • Be cautious with links and attachments.

  • Keep conversations respectful; report abuse or suspicious behaviour.

7) Reporting & Support

  • Use the Report button on any profile or listing.

  • Or email: safety@silversoulmates.co.uk with a link/screenshot.

  • If you feel in immediate danger, call 999 (UK emergency services).
